After seven weeks, all 42 Kika and Leiner furniture stores throughout Austria were allowed to reopen at the beginning of May. "We had an enormously high customer frequency and willingness to buy in all stores in the last few days," reports Managing Director Reinhold Gütebier. "The first week was even far better than the strongest week of the Christmas business." As early as mid-May, all sales employees were therefore already brought back from short-time work; in addition, new consultants were hired. According to a Kika/Leiner press release, sales in the web shops increased eightfold during the Corona-related closure; here, modernization is now progressing even faster than planned. In addition, Leiner has used the time for conversion work in Vösendorf and Salzburg.
