With revenues of EUR 346 million and earnings of EUR 14.5 million, Deutsche Messe, the organiser of the Domotex trade fair, can look back on a successful 2019. The consolidated result is around EUR 5 million above the planned figure, reports Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe, at the company's Supervisory Board meeting.
The reasons for the good overall result are, on the one hand, the positive development of the major trade shows in Hannover, all of which performed better than planned, and, on the other hand, the success of the company's activities abroad, which also exceeded expectations. The start to the 2020 financial year was also initially very successful. "However, the positive omens were completely cancelled out by the appearance of the corona virus," said Klöckner. Since mid-March 2020, no events have been held at the Hanover exhibition centre.
The next major trade fair on Deutsche Messe's calendar is EuroBLECH, which is scheduled for 27 to 30 October. Köckler: "Together with the responsible authorities, we are working on a safety and hygiene concept that will allow us to hold trade fairs even during corona times," he said.
